Snow Update! Feb 6th, 2010

Snowing Again! More pictures of the farm...Girls are really pumping out the eggs now!

Also funny fact. Chickens with white earlobes produce white eggs. Chickens with brown earlobes produce brown eggs....(I didnt know chickens had earlobes!!). I am thinking it must be the feathers right behind the eye - see close up above!

Each morning I go out and collect 1, 2 or 3 eggs each day. We have New Hampshire Reds, according to mypetchicken.com they produce about 4 eggs per week per bird. With 8 birds that means we should be getting about 2 dozen a week once they all get going. Omlettes anyone? LOL!

Starting to purchase all the seed supplies to prepare for March 10th, the first day we start seeds!!

More on that to come...Looking forward to spring thats for sure : )
